AI-Driven Lead Follow-Up: how Anglers & Leadinfo scale personal sales

AI Lead Follow-Up – turning cold traffic into warm conversations
Every marketer knows the pain: an inbox full of generic LinkedIn messages that miss every ounce of soul. Merel (marketing lead at Anglers) once even received an offer for a Salesforce scan while Anglers does not use Salesforce at all. It made her think: can lead follow-up be more personal and more efficient? Together with AI consultant Laurens, with Leadinfo as the data backbone, Anglers started an experiment. Goal: build a workflow in which AI lead follow-up gives every prospect a unique experience, without the team having to work overtime.

✨ Want to watch the full recording? You can do so here: Webinar – AI-Driven Lead Follow-Up: how Anglers & Leadinfo scale personal sales. The webinar is recorded in Dutch, but you can use the translation feature in YouTube to set the subtitles in English.

From raw website visitor to warm conversation

Anglers begins at the source: Leadinfo recognises which companies visit the site. Not every company fits the ideal customer profile, so Merel sets a trigger on South-Holland organisations with a minimum team size and specific industry codes. Companies that match automatically receive the label Sandbox, the field in which Anglers wants to grow.

Next, Autopilot (Leadinfo’s outreach module) takes over and:

  1. visits the LinkedIn profile of the marketing manager;
  2. sends an automated connect request;
  3. adds the company straight to the CRM (ActiveCampaign) so sales always knows in which funnel stage the lead sits.

Up to this point everything is neat but not distinctive. The real magic starts when AI takes over the follow-up.

Personal touch 2.0: text and video with AI

1. Hyper-personal introduction text

In a dedicated Custom GPT, Anglers feeds the company information from Leadinfo. One prompt later, ChatGPT delivers a mini-script on demand: short intro, relevant pain-point solution and a clear call-to-action.

2. Synthesised video

Text alone lacks emotion, so visuals are added. Anglers tests two levels:

  • Avatar video: a static mid-Journey image of sales director Juri speaks the text in D-ID. Quick and budget-friendly, but visibly “AI”.
  • Realistic clone: Juri records one clean video take; 11 Labs clones his voice and HeyGen maps the script onto his face. The result looks like a live, personal message, in any language desired.

Merel embeds the video manually in the first LinkedIn message, with a transparent disclaimer: “This video was created with AI, but the invitation is 100 % personal.”

From first click to contract – AI as silent note-taker

Once the appointment is secured, AI keeps serving. Fireflies makes live transcripts of Teams calls; ChatGPT condenses them into decision points, obstacles and follow-up tasks that land directly in ActiveCampaign. Conversation stays central, not typing.

Ethical framework and automation

Anglers talks openly about bias, privacy and deep-fake risk. By proactively stating “AI inside”, they build trust with prospects and colleagues alike. Only when every step runs stably do they automate further. Garbage in = garbage out remains the rule.

Result (after a 30-day pilot)

  • Connection requests accepted: +42 %
  • Replies to first message: +55 %
  • Intro meetings booked: +28 %

Merel’s conclusion: “With AI lead follow-up we stand out without becoming spammy. It frees our team to focus on what really matters: good conversations.”

Three tips to start tomorrow

  1. Map your current process – add AI only afterwards.
  2. Start small: one trigger, one video, one language.
  3. Be radically transparent: tell people you use AI and why.
